Christmas
2019
We hope this letter finds you well as we offer
our warmest Christmas greetings. This past year was one of many blessings and
several surmountable setbacks. First, the setbacks. Both of us had surgery on
our shoulders. Cindy’s occurred in January, and she was able to bounce back to
complete the Naperville Sprint Triathlon in August. Paul had rotator cuff
surgery in September and is progressing nicely. The same surgeon operated on
both of us. Paul will have his left rotator cuff repaired in 2020.
Our biggest news is that we will be building
our dream house in Pennsylvania next year. It will be located on 21 acres of
hilly meadow and woodland. In March, we will move to where Paul grew up. We break
ground in April and estimate completion by Thanksgiving. If you are reading
this, consider yourself invited to visit us in 2021. We will have lots of
space. Our address will be 104 Mowry Road, Monaca PA 15061.
Travel was a blessing we experienced
throughout 2019. A memorable Rhine River Cruise included time in Switzerland,
France, Germany and the Netherlands. We chose Viking River Cruises and worked
with the best cruise planners.
In January, we visited John and Mary Cwynar in
California. In the Spring, we spent a weekend in Springfield, Illinois to visit
Lincoln’s home, museum and grave. Over Thanksgiving, we celebrated with Cindy’s
parents in Oklahoma.
Family and grandchildren activities filled
much of our year. We accommodated all four grandchildren and their parents at
one point. The grandchildren – Emma (5), Levi (4), Henry (3) and Kinley (3) –
enjoy going on walks to the playground, playing in the basement and baking
cookies with Grammie, and visits to children’s museums.
We continue to enjoy our Marriage Encounter community
and daily dialogue. Most importantly, in October we made a retreat at the
Jesuit Retreat House in Oshkosh, Wisconsin. If you have been meaning to make a
retreat, you owe it to yourself. God will bless you immensely.
Throughout the Christmas Season and the New
Year, we pray that God bless you and your family. Please keep in touch, and
plan on visiting us in our new house in 2021.
Paul and Cindy Cwynar
