Christmas
2018
In our eighth year of marriage, we celebrated with
a January cruise to Key West, Belize and Mexico in January. We enjoyed our
cruise so much, that we booked a Rhine River cruise for 2019.
We attended three family weddings in
California, Maryland and Wisconsin, and Simone’s graduation in Colorado. This,
and trips to Pennsylvania and Virginia, gave us opportunities to catch up with
both sides of our families. We also hosted Dave and Kathleen Gruseck as they
travelled through Illinois.
Our four grandchildren stayed a couple of
weekends with us throughout the year. Emma turned four in January; Levi three
in April; Henry two in September; and Kinley two in November. We baked cookies
and pizza with them, and they enjoyed Travis, Pepper and Winnie.
We made home improvements on our lighting,
landscaping and kitchen; initiated new activities – building a teeter-totter
and wooden Christmas signs, working on jigsaw puzzles; and in 2019, we plan on
learning enough German to better appreciate our upcoming cruise.
Cindy finished a half-marathon and Paul
preached in a half dozen different churches throughout Chicago’s Western
suburbs. We both work for SCIS from home and love the commute.
Most importantly, we made a Marriage Encounter
weekend in October, and have not missed a daily dialogue since then. To our
delight, our neighbors were our prayer couple and introduced us to our local
Marriage Encounter community.
